CUSTOM-MADE POP-UP CARDS FOR ADVERTISING, MARKETING AND PROMOTIONS

Whilst our automatic pop-up products carry a big impact and many of our interactive mailers have eye-catching mechanisms, sometimes a marketing campaign calls for something a little less “gimmicky” or “quirky”. Clients who require a certain level of impact without wishing to make an overstatement often plump for a pop-up card and with good reason.

Each pop-up card is custom made to client requirements right down to the shape of the pop-up element and the angle of the erect pop up piece. The size, shape and angle often determine whether or not the pop-up effect is subtle or very dramatic and that is often the key to the success of the advertising promotion.

KEEP IT SIMPLE, KEEP IT EFFECTIVE AND KEEP IT AFFORDABLE

One problem that often arises with promotional pop-up cards is when a client has been inspired to plump for a pop-up card having seen a fantastic card creation from someone like Robert Sabuda. Alternatively, a client will have seen a wonderful pop-up display in a children’s book and will think, “That’s what I want!” However, products such as a pop-up book will almost invariably have been printed and assembled in the Far East or in a South American country at a cost that we cannot hope to match in Europe.

As magnificent as many retail pop-up creations are, the truth is that they are over-complicated for most B2B marketing messages. The impact required for a B2B promotion to be a success needs to be little more than a short, sharp shock - just long enough to grab your clients’ attention and for your client to recognise, for example, that your pop-up card is announcing the launch of a new brand of soft drink.

V FOLDS ARE SIMPLE BUT CAN MAKE A BOLD ADVERTISING AND MARKETING PROMOTION

The main reason for choosing a pop-up card for advertising and marketing promotions is to create impact and to focus your customers’ attention. A single V fold pop-up can achieve this at a relatively low cost and whilst still creating a dramatic impact on opening the card. The key lies in the shape, size and angle of the pop-up piece and we are happy to give you guidelines to help you to achieve the desired effect.

A PARALLELOGRAM STAND-UP CREATES A DIFFERENT EFFECT FOR ADVERTISING AND MARKETING

A pop-up card featuring a parallelogram stand-up piece creates a totally different effect for your advertising and marketing promotion. Cityscapes, buildings and room settings are themes that are often favoured for this type of pop-up card. The pop-up effect is not as dynamic as with the V-fold but the result may be considered to be more subtle and in keeping with a specific promotion.

VARIETY OF POP-UP CARDS MEANS THERE IS SOMETHING FOR ALMOST EVERY PROMOTION

V-folds and parallelograms lie at the heart of every pop-up book but the result need not be as simple as described above. Variations on the V-fold can create 3-D pop-up features such as a pop-up cube or a pop-up house, whilst using a simplified version of the fold can transform a dull card into a pop-top card. Another interesting variation which might suit a humorous advertising and marketing promotion is when V-folds are used to create a mouth that opens and closes when the card is opened and closed. Variations on the parallelogram theme are used to create the Cut-out lettering cards.
