The “Parallelogram” stand-up card display is one of the most popular pop-up mechanics found in B2B Advertising and Marketing and there are very good reasons for that popularity. The main attraction, of course, is that the stand-up display gives immediate focus to the main point of your marketing piece. This is a point that can be easily lost on a flyer, leaflet or small brochure. The main point of a piece of B2B marketing and advertising is to grab your customer’s attention and to direct focus to your main selling point.
The actual Parallelogram stand up feature is created by a die-cut piece that is affixed to the left and right of the centrefold by means of a connecting “bridge”. Opening the card introduces the lift to create a very simple pop-up engineering mechanism. However, it is the die-cut that is affixed to the stand-up card which creates the pop-up feature and this can be in virtually any shape that you like. Buildings are always popular and the pop-up card also lends itself to settings such as room interiors, cityscapes and skylines. It is very popular with the construction industry, real estate agents, hotels, interior decorators and educational establishments. However, we should make one important point here - simple shapes work the best. There is no point spending money on a really intricate cutter as it is the lifting action which attracts attention. Our motto for pop-up and stand-up cards is - keep it simple, keep it affordable, keep it effective.
The Parallelogram stand-up card allows quite a few variations to create different advertising and marketing effects. For example, creative use of 2, 3 or even 4 stand-up pieces can create depth and perspective to a centrefold scene though it is advisable not to overdo it as this can make the stand-up card bulky and unattractive. Also, most parallelograms are made in landscape aspect with the cover opening from the bottom upwards. The Parallelogram pop-up card is a very worthwhile consideration for your B2B marketing and advertising campaigns.
The stand-up cards are usually made in 350gsm silk artboard and printed in 4-colour process.

The pop-up engineering example pictured isn’t a product as such, rather than an illustration of a simple way of adding an amusing movement with the use of an uncomplicated cardboard engineering technique. Effects such as the one created here can give rise to many marketing ideas which can enhance a promotional campaign. There are many effects that can be achieved with pop-up engineering cuts and creases all of which can add an extra dimension to an otherwise ordinary card / leaflet. Just give us a call to discuss any marketing ideas that you might have.
The “open mouth” is a good example of how simple pop-up engineering techniques can add humour and movement to pop-up cards and promotional print. There are many variations that can be utilised to achieve a certain effect and if you do have a marketing idea for design please feel free to call to discuss it. This actual pop-up cut and fold is almost always used to portray a mouth – often of a frog or a fish. Other marketing ideas involving similar simple pop-up engineering techniques could include: diamond; umbrella (using just one triangle); roof (using just one triangle); Christmas tree (using one triangle under another etc).

The main reason for choosing a pop-up card for advertising and marketing promotions is to create impact and to focus your customers’ attention. A single V fold pop-up can achieve this at a relatively low cost and whilst still creating a dramatic impact on opening the card. The key lies in the shape, size and angle of the pop-up piece and we are happy to give you guidelines to help you to achieve the desired effect.
A Parallelogram Stand-up creates a different effect for Advertising and Marketing
A pop-up card featuring a parallelogram stand-up piece creates a totally different effect for your advertising and marketing promotion. Cityscapes, buildings and room settings are themes that are often favoured for this type of pop-up card. The pop-up effect is not as dynamic as with the V-fold but the result may be considered to be more subtle and in keeping with a specific promotion.
Variety of Pop-up cards means there is something for almost every Promotion
V-folds and parallelograms lie at the heart of every pop-up book but the result need not be as simple as described above. Variations on the V-fold can create 3-D pop-up features such as a pop-up cube or a pop-up house, whilst using a simplified version of the fold can transform a dull card into a pop-top card. Another interesting variation which might suit a humorous advertising and marketing promotion is when V-folds are used to create a mouth that opens and closes when the card is opened and closed. Variations on the parallelogram theme are used to create the Cut-out lettering cards.

Everyone wants to send something a bit different as a company Christmas card in order to get their company noticed. Many look for a complete alternative to a card and the lucky searchers end up here! We believe that a pop-up Christmas decoration will do the trick. It’s jolly, it’s festive and it is certainly different. Take a look at these four items.
Pop-up Diamond
The pop-up diamond really comes into its own when you add a loop of decorative string. It is instantly transformed into a product that looks like a Christmas decoration. The loops are usually made in silver or gold and add to the festive appearance of the product making it an ideal choice to carry a corporate Christmas greeting.
Pop-up Hexapop
We call this product a Hexapop on account of it being a hexagonal pop up, which doesn’t take much working out! Like other products in this section this pop up polyhedron can be printed to look like an attractive Christmas decoration. We can add a decorative hanging loop made in silver or gold string and, added to your prowess in the graphics department, the polyhedron becomes a successful Christmas promotional product.
The Johnson 13
This pop-up product looks really well when printed as a Christmas ornament to carry a company Christmas greeting. Add a loop of shiny string or elastic and it becomes a Christmas tree decoration. It will certainly catch the eye more than the lame offerings sent out by many of your competitors. This pop-up is suitable as a Christmas greeting or as part of a Christmas promotion.
The Snowflake
The Snowflake is the single most popular shape in our range of Christmas greetings products. When a shiny hanging loop is added it just adds the icing to the cake and creates a perfect promotional Christmas greeting in the style of a Christmas decoration or a Christmas tree ornament.
