In Promotional B2B Marketing one good turn deserves another

There is an old saying that goes, “One Good Turn Deserves Another”. In terms of promotional B2B marketing, products with a turning mechanism have proven very popular and highly interactive – with the interaction proving that one good turn does indeed deserve another. Here are brief descriptions of four such products.

 We have one promotional card, for example, which features an amusing mechanism that suggests movement on water – like the bobbing duck featured in the picture. It could just have easily portrayed a boat on the sea. The example pictured is a single sleeve product and it is printed in 4 colour process on 350gsm silk art board.

 Swatch cards are another very popular example of a product with a turning action. The size, shape and quantity of cards that go to make up a swatch varies from job to job but the most popular cards seem to be round cornered size A7 or credit card sized. We print on one or both sides, die-cut, collate and then fasten with an eyelet to create the finished swatch. Most cards are printed in 4 colour process both sides on 350gsm silk art board.

 Of course, this list would not be complete without mentioning information discs or comparison charts. The most popular style of comparison chart made at Whitney Woods comprises of 2 or 3 discs with die-cut windows that are fastened at the centre with a metal eyelet.   The optimum size is no wider than 160mm diameter as anything over that size has to be assembled on a 100% manual operation which adds to the price. Ordinarily the discs are printed on both sides on 350gsm silk board.

 A variation on the same theme features a disc within a pouch such as seen on local authority parking discs. We produce three basic styles of parking discs the most common of which is the one that adheres to guidelines laid down by British Standards for use by Local Government bodies – a 120mm disc in a 125 x 125mm sleeve. The standard specification calls for a product printed in 4 colour process on 500micron folding box board.

Using Interactive Marketing Products that Grow in size will help B2B response rates grow, too.

The key to a successful B2B marketing campaign is to choose and interactive product to carry your promotion. Many case studies available online (just Google “dimensional marketing”) show that results for interactive mailers are quite outstanding and far in excess of those achieved by a plain leaflet or flyer. You can reinforce the point of the promotion if you are able to tie in your message with the action of the product and in the instance of these three expanding products that should be easy eg “Watch your profits grow” etc.

 The first product in this showcase is an example of pocket-sized product called a Foldilocks Card. Given that this card folds away to just credit card size it offers a very generous print area  The example pictured stretches out to 405mm long and folds down to credit card size though we do make “specials” to order.  Our next item has a really effective fold-out display. Available in a variety of sizes, shapes and folding combinations, the Starburst promotional marketing product owes its popularity to the novel way that a big display comes into view when the cover is opened. The most popular size is size A6 with a 3-panel cover printed in 4 colour process on 350gsm silk art board. The fold-out section is on 150gsm art paper.

 And finally for now - from a handy pocket size to a terrific display by way of a flourishing opening - that’s the Tripleburst advertising promotional product. There are 3 individual Starburst displays in this one package! Each Tripleburst product is printed in 4 colour process on 350gsm silk art board for the cover and 150gsm art paper for the fold-out pieces.

Multi-faceted Pop-up Products show the many sides of B2B Direct Marketing Promotions

There are many different shapes available in the Whitney Woods range of promotional pop-up products and many have different sides to their character. Take these four products as a good example.

 A pentagonal product like our Johnson 13 has 5 outer edges which are made up of a combination of 10 equilateral triangles. It has often been printed to look like a festive decoration and also like a precious stone. The product comes with its own printed mailing Zippalope, it is rubber band powered and it is printed in 4 colour process on 500micron board.

 We also have a proper pop-up pen holder, powered by a rubber band.  The product has 6 equal sides each measuring 50 x 140mm and it is 100mm at its widest point when popped up. The hole in the top is big enough to hold 10 pens. It is popular as a business gift that can be sent by mail and it comes with its own printed mailing Zippalope which measures approx 150 x 165 x 5mm. The pen holder itself is printed in 4 colour process on 500micron folding box board.

 Another promotional advertising item is based on a heptagonal shape, having 7 outer edges but being made up of 14 triangles.  We call it a Pop-up Snowflake for no other reason than a snowflake design was chosen for our first print! It can be made with an added loop of decorative string to make it into a Christmas marketing product.  And did you know that a 50p piece is heptagonal! The product is rubber-band powered and printed in 4 colour process on 500 micron folding box board it comes with its own printed envelope.

 We also have an 8-sided push-up promotional pen pot called a Pen Pal though we do other versions. Made in 500 micron box board and printed in 4 colour process the pen pot fits neatly in a C5 envelope which makes it ideal for mailing.

Pop Up Pen Holders can add Life to your B2B Direct Marketing Promotion

Sending an automatic pop-up product as your Business-to-Business direct marketing piece is one sure-fire way to get your promotion noticed. The mailing sleeve will be easily spotted as an attractive pack that is crying out to be opened and the pop-up action will grab your customer’s attention. However, if you want to add life to your campaign so that it extends beyond the initial impact then one good suggestion is to make your pop-up product a desktop pen holder. We have quite a few excellent candidates for the job.

 The Six-Ball business promotional item makes a very attractive pen pot with 6 holes being added to the hexagonal upper face to make the conversion. This promotional ball is printed in 4-colour process on 500-micron folding boxboard, it is a pop-up product being rubber band powered and it is supplied with its own printed mailing envelope.

 The promotional pop-up cube that is the one most suitable for using as a pen holder is the 85mm promotional cube which comes with 8 holes to hold pens. If you want to print the side panels as a calendar then the 95mm size is the better option.  All cubes are rubber band powered and printed in 4 colour process on 500micron folding box board and come with a printed mailing sleeve.

 The product which we call a pop up house has been printed as a variety of things including pubs, shops, banks, offices, green houses, restaurants and sheds but sometimes it is simply printed with information. Most have 4 holes in the roof to convert it into a pen holder. All pop up houses are rubber-band powered, printed in 4 colour process on 500micron folding box board and supplied with a printed mailing outer.

 We also have standard shaped pen pots such as a six-sided pen holder with an automatic pop-up action which is powered by an internal rubber band. It can hold approximately 10 pens. The pen holder and its envelope are printed in 4 colour process on 500micron folding box board. Other pen pots are erected by one simple push-up action. The ones pictured are octagonal though one is more like a square with chamfered edges and it also has a header card. They are printed in 4 colour process on 500 micron folding box board.
